London Stitching Marching On

This past week some progress was made on the London needlepoint travel round. 🤗Top half of the background was filled in. Working on the iconic symbols was next. The Union Jack was completed along with the London taxi, Buckingham Palace guard 😍, and a blue bird. Perhaps a UK reader can kindly explain the meaning of a blue bird to this American.

Today, I'll be working on the endearing Big Ben.  A 18 tapestry needle is placed next to the figures to display size.

While stitching, it seemed appropriate to watch a video by BBC of Prince William and Kate's wedding (Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) in 2011. A visit to London is on my list after the crisis passes and it will.

More than ever, this week I looked forward to linking and connecting with the Slow Sunday Stitchers that Kathy graciously  brings together weekly!  May you and yours stay well.

Love your London piece. I didn't realize how small it is. Hubby and I had been planning a trip to England for our 35th anniversary this summer, but that is off the table now. I hope that it is possible someday in the future. Stay safe and stay healthy.

I think the bluebird is a pigeon

I hope you get to visit the uk one day! In the meantime your London piece is looking good. I'm glad you got the Union Jack completed. The blue grey bird is definitely a pigeon. In London there are thousands of them and they congregate around Trafalgar Square. I have two that visit my garden often and they are getting fat eating all the bird seed. Do you have them in America? We love a royal wedding, my brother was actually at there wedding....not as a guest he was working lol but we did spot him on tv when we watched it.

Your needlepoint is coming along nicely. I have never done needlepoint and wonder how different it is from crossstitch? Sounds like a relaxing time enjoying the wedding and some slow stitching!

This is such a beautiful piece; it's really beautiful! One of my very favorite movies is William & Kate starring Camilia Luddington. But the actual wedding is fun to re-watch, too! :)

"Wake me when it's over" will work for me! Until then lots of stitching to do! I love your London stitchery and the way it is inspiring to go visit one day.

Yes, if only we could all go to sleep and when we wake up the world is 'normal' again, whatever normal is, of course. Every time I visit you and look at your sweet London stitching, the whimsicality of each component does make me smile. Oh, to be able to visit London! One of my first ports of call would Liberty on Mews. Me thinks I could wander around this establishment forever and a day. I have taken a virtual stroll through each floor and oh how fabulous this establishment is. Enjoy your stitching, lovely Jill. Take care.
