Although I have not posted for a few weeks, I've done some fun quilt-related activities. Three weeks ago, I attended an excellent quilt & fiber show held in Port Huron, Michigan. It was a pleasure to see lots of exquisite handwork. The ribbons themselves were a work of art.
This was a crazy quilt embroidered by hand representing each month of the calendar. Made by Carolyn Knaggs
These hand stitched and hand quilted hexies (all 6,798) were stitched by Cheryl Baker and quilted by Lovina Miller. Did I mention the hexies measure 3/4". Oh my!Last weekend I was at a quilt retreat in Sebewaing, Michigan which is in the Thumb of the state's mitten. 😊
My retreat project was machine applique from a Nancy Rink design kit. This is the block laid out, not yet appliqued.
Please remember to check out Kathy's Slow Stitching linky party. Thank you for visiting.

Oh Jill... what a fun post.. I love your Paris needlepoint you are working on... and your furry supervisor looks VERY interested in your blingy threads !!! lol
I love the quilt show you went to visit and those ribbons are unique for sure ... maybe you should enter something next year and win one!!! I love your applique block too... machine applique would you do straight stitch, zig zag, or blanket stitch or something else all together ???
While here I visited your post I had missed on your vacation... lovely photos you got and a quilt shop and road block too! How nice :D Have a wonderful Sunday friend ;)

Oh what beautiful quilts you posted from the show. Your crosstitch projects look awesome
Paris is beautiful!!! And I agree, those prize ribbons are truly a work of art. Beautiful work!
How fun to go on a retreat!
Love the photo of your Paris stitching...and the furry snoopervisor!
Paris is beautiful. Lovely quilt show, thanks for sharing!
I'm tickled that you like the Paris needlepoint project. The furry supervisor/photo bomber has slowed my stitching progress instead of speeding it up. ;-) You read my mind between the lines about entering a quilt at next year's Mich Quilt & Fiber Show. Not so much to win a ribbon, but to be a part of a fun event. After watching multiple youtube videos and practicing machine applique techniques, I've chosen to zig zag with 'invisible' thread. Appreciate that you liked our vacation photos. I need to print them out and put in a book. I thoroughly enjoyed your visit!
I wished all of Kathy's Slow Stitchers could have seen the handwork on display at the show. Photos just don't do the exquisite stitches justice. I'm trying to stay focused on this hand stitched project for a end-of-year finish. Appreciate your visit!
Stitching Paris makes me think of the beautiful city of lights, romance, art, French accents and French men 😉, etc. In my humble opinion, those prize ribbons compete with Paducah's ribbons. Thank you for visiting!
Quilt retreats are fun. It is amazing how one can get much stitching done without the routine interruptions that occur at home. Snoopervisor is a good one! I may borrow it. Thank you for visiting, your comment and most of all your weekly stitching party!
I'm hoping Paris gets more interest when stitched with the bling fibers. The owner of my local needlepoint shop is helping me choose the threads. Glad you liked the few photos of the quilt show that I was able to post. Thanks, Karrin, for commenting.
Your Paris stitchery is wonderful -- great colors! Those ribbons were amazing looking! :)
Those quilts are works of art, not sure I've got the patience for so small hexies though! Your retreat sounds like a lot of fun and I love the block you are working on!
I wish I could take credit for colors, however, it is preprinted canvas. The shop owner assisted with choice of threads which confirms the benefit of shopping a brick and mortar shop. Thanks Denise for taking the time to comment.
The hand embroidered crazy quilt was definitely national quilt show worthy. The camera doesn't show its exquisite details. I agree that I not up to stitching small hexies, yet you are doing a fine job on yours. Thank you for visiting!
I always love to to wander around quilt shows and be inspired by other peoples' gorgeous creations. The crazy patchwork pretty is divine, but I would have to say my heart is with the gorgeous hexie. My goodness....3/4" inch hexies....'tis truly spectacular. Love your machine applique pretty you are working on and your Paris cross stitch is adorable.
