Something Old, Something New

Finally, London has returned from the professional finisher! Oh how I had to be patient for four long months. Therefore, I'd like to learn how to do my own finishing. Understandably due to the pandemic, mail has been slow, and the finishers were overwhelmed with many stitched projects.

Kirk and Bradley Travel Round

My favorites are the Buckingham Palace Guard and Big Ben.

I am happy to say that the slow snowman cross stitching is done. Until he's either mounted, framed or made into an ornament, I don't consider him totally complete. I hope to learn the finishing process myself as mentioned above in sending needlework projects out to be finished.

These past two weeks the household was been discombobulated due to a bathroom remodel. My normal calm nerves were a bit frazzled with the pounding and hammering. This photo of the old bathroom sums it up.

Hope the neighbors didn't mind looking at this dumpster.

This Sunday I have two projects regarding my favorite interests while I slow stitch with the nicest group of people at Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching linky party.

Decisions, decisions. I enjoy playing and watching golf, and there is a skater in the family which is why I was drawn to these needlepoint canvases.

Take care,

Jill

Oh LOndon, such an amazing city, and your cross stitch is gorgeous. As is the little snowman too.

I love you cross stitch finish, all your projects are lovely. I hate having anything done in the house because of all the disruption.

London looks worth the wait to me... can you figure out how they finished it so nicely for the 2 new sets? You could make a bowl filler out of the snowman but he is sooo cute I would hate for him to not be seen! Good luck finding info about finishing needlepoint on your own! A steamer may be needed! Good luck on getting your new bathroom in soon! Kathi

London looks great. I love that skate needlepoint. I think my son would love the Augusta one. You can find this tutorial for finishing needlepoint here: https://www.google.com/search?q=needlepoint+finishing+tutorials&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS780US780&oq=needlepoint+finishing+tu&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0.14344j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_3NIvX4m6KK2lytMP9Iui0AU26. I found it very helpful even for cross-stitch. You may want to check out the Twisted Stitcher's tutorials also as she has great finishes for cross-stitch that you may be able to adapt. Can't wait to get a peek at the new bathroom. Hubby and I went through 6 months of it one winter 17 years ago when we completely expanded and remodeled our home. It is a whole lot of noise and inconvenience, but usually well worth it.

London is just stunning and the two new ones are pretty as a picture. Looks like some great tutorials to finishing things up. Hope the remodel is done soon - so you can enjoy some peace and quiet to stitch.

Oh how beautiful your London ornament is! You will have to try and see if you can finish your pretty snowman. Love the two new cross stitches you have, particularly the ice skates.

London is beautiful. You have some lovely new projects. We remodeled our bathroom a few years ago but it wasn't quite the demolition job you have going. Good luck!

Oh London is finished so beautifully... it was worth the wait... love the bow on top!
I'm loving the Augusta stitchery! It is an event I enjoy watching each year that signals that spring is coming!

Nice finishes and I have been to Augusta in the springtime and that piece captures it well. Oh my having a bathroom remodeled is huge hope there is at least another bathroom in your house. My friend is having that done soon and it's their only bathroom!

Your London ornament will look lovely on the Christmas tree. Seeing I'm sitting here watching golf, I'd vote for the Augusta stitching project. Hopefully, the redecorating mess will out weight the brand new bathroom. A finisher? Sounds good.

I love your London ornament finish! And your snowman is so cute - I've loved seeing your progress on that one. Both of your choices for the next cross-stitch project look fun - it would be hard to pick one! :) So exciting to get a bathroom remodel, in spite of the mess!

London has turned out beautifully, worth the wait! Your new ones are pretty too, lovely soft colours. I wonder how difficult it would be to finish the round ones? But there is bound to be something on you tube for you to watch.

Your London turned out beautifully! I've never heard of professional finishers, but do have some hand stitching projects that are patiently waiting to be framed. You are quite the talented and prolific stitcher!

Your needlepoint London ornament is so pretty, Jill! I don't needlepoint so I don't know if it is quite different from finishing cross stitch, but if you do want to finish your own stitching projects, I highly recommend Vonna's tutorials. You can find them here: https://tts-learntofinish.blogspot.com/

Your little snowman is darling--I need to try some of that gingham fabric that you used. Love the pretty shades of blue.

Oh, good luck on your bathroom remodel. It is so disruptive and exhausting... We had our entire home remodeled in 1996 while raising three young boys and lived there the entire time. I look back at that year and wonder how I survived! But, it was worth it and you just have to keep reminding yourself of how nice the results will be.

Enjoy your week ahead ♥
