Almost Done

The needlepoint ornament is nearing completion ~ so slow stitching (geesh). The fancy blue thread and red beads are last to be sewn. Today I'll decide which sparkly blue fiber to use for the light colored dots against the dark blue. I'm leaning toward the one on the right (on a spool).  Red glass beads will be the holly berries.

Next I'll try my hand at finishing the ornament ~ adding cording, fabric backing, etc. Several you tube videos have been quite helpful.  Stay tuned on outcome (fingers crossed).

Looking forward to a spring quilt retreat next weekend. Speaking of Spring, despite have a bit of ice, sleet and snow this past week, the crocuses have emerged.  Note to self, plant more bulbs for next year. Love that purple!

This Sunday I will be joining kindred stitchers at

Oh yes, there needs to be lots of bulbs planted in readiness for Spring. =) Your Ice Skates look gorgeous, Jill. I rather love the blue thread on the right, too. I look forward to seeing this pretty ornament all finished. Enjoy your quilting retreat next weekend. It does sound rather wonderful.

I say that to myself each spring and by fall the yard work has done me in. Maybe we'll both remember this year.🤪

sometimes, we, as slow stitchers, can take "slow" to a whole new level!!! Your ornament is lovely. Those tiny beads will make perfect holly berries.

I'm just catching up on blog reading after being away in Florida, Jill. Your skating ornament is looking so pretty. I look forward to the final finish. I imagine it would be more difficult to finish a needlepoint oval than a cross stitch one because of the heavier canvas, but I don't know? Good luck! Love your crocuses--something I always mean to plant, but forget about each fall :)

Wishing you and your family a very Happy Easter!
