Christmas Stitches

As I have jumped on the Christmas in July theme bandwagon, progress continues on Santa.  On Thursday, when the calendar flips to August, I will be more comfortable meeting the finisher's deadline for Christmas projects which is Sept. 7th.

The fun part today and upcoming week is being able to stitch with Gold RushObviously, it is not real gold thread, yet one can dream.

It is best to stitch Santa's face prior to working on his beard.  The reason is the probability white fuzzy beard fibers will getting picked up with other colors.

If you have not previously noticed, I have begun filling in the background which is a dark color.  Cranberry was not one that I would choose unless I saw the finished project.  I hope you will like the dark background at the reveal.

Admittedly, my eyes were  experiencing unnecessary eye strain while working on 18-point canvas.  Therefore, I purchased a portable magnifying light.  The difference it has made in stitching time and eye comfort level is huge.

Take care of your eyes, kindred stitchers!

Until next time,
Jill

Looks great! I use a lighted magnifying eyeglass type thing, with changeable lenses. I love it.

I like how the dark background has a checkerboard look. Your Santa is looking great. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Your Santa is turning out quite nicely, I have a lighted magnifier I use now and again when I am using smaller needle than I would normally use.

I like the dark background it will make Santa pop and the directional stitching gives it real texture. Love it!

Thanks. Are your lighted magnifying glasses the kind that are on your face or forehead?

You have very good eyes to spot the checkerboard background pattern. That part is going quickly.

Lighted magnifiers are quite helpful. I do not know how I managed without one.

The darker contrasting background does make Santa pop. It will look more balanced once I near completion.
