Quilt Shows & Santa’s Home Stretch

Santa is looking forward to a finish this week. There has been lots of stitching on his fur trim and miscellaneous sections. That will leave his beard and cap tassel remaining.  I know how to stitch the beard and look forward to using the soft, lush angora fiber.  However, there is uncertainity on how to make his tassel, I may have to pay a visit my local needlepoint shop for advice.  Oh darn, twist my arm.

This upcoming week, a road trip to the AQS Quilt Show in Grand Rapids is in the works. I love all quilt shows, yet the larger quilt shows display more eye candy. Not to mention temptation offered by the variety of quilt vendors ;-)  Below is only one example of many exquisite quilts from last year. It's worth the 2.5 hour drive.

This past Spring, I attended two inspiring quilt shows. One of my yearly favorites is the Sauder Village Quilt Show (2019) in Ohio. They usually have 300-400 quilts on display in a lovely venue.

Apologies to the makers as her/his names are not visible.

The second Spring show visited was the Chicago International Quilt Show. Admittedly, the show was very large and quite overwhelming. This quilt was beautiful. The maker is from France. I'm on a blue kick and love dishes which is perhaps why it appealed to me.

Thanks for visiting and hope you enjoy seeing more hand needlework
 at Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching.

don't you just love quilt shows!! I haven't been to one in awhile and must think about one next spring - I went to Paducah for the new fall show the first year but that has already been two years ago I bet and went to Houston for the first time for the show there around the same year but I bet it has been two years now. Love how your Santa is coming along -

Santa is looking good! I love going to quilt shows, but I buy more than I can actually work on.

Santa will surely be done before the Christmas season! Beautiful quilts....it has been too many years since I have visited a quilt show.

Yeap! LOVE quilt shows. Some people visit world-famous museums, yet I'm thrilled to see a room full of quilts hanging. I was at 2nd year Fall Paducah. Enjoyed it. Hope to go to a Spring Paducah. Houston was on bucket list, but the Chicago version satisfied me. Back to Santa stitching. :-)

You are not the only one that buys more at quilt shows than one can possibly work on. Lol! I have quilt show purchases from three years ago. I must be careful and show restraint this year.

Santa is looking super cute. Those quilts are really lovely. It's hard to resist the traders at these shows, but such fun to come home with a reminder of a great day out!

Thanks Karrin! I look forward to seeing more quilt show quilts later this week.

Great idea Sarah! Any quilt show purchases will be considered souvenirs and not future projects. ;-)
