Slow Sunday Stitching

Today I will attempt to catch up on one of three hand stitching projects just so I can participate in today's Slow Sunday Stitching  post, which refers to Kathy's gang of hand stitchers. Too fun! Sometimes when I am questioned why I do handwork, I empathize with the ladies in the photo. Lol! The three projects have been posted previously.

This upcoming week I am looking forward to attending one of my favorite quilt shows, Sauder Village Quilt Show. It is an excellent venue with hundreds of quilts hanging in Founders Hall. There is live piano music playing in the background, the hall is well light and the show is not commercialized. If you live within a few hours of Archbold, Ohio, it is well worth the drive. It runs from Tuesday thru Sunday.

Two excellent and well-known quilt instructors are featured this year: Edyta Sitar and Kimberly Einmo. Classes are full, however, their work should be on display for all to enjoy. :-)

I am especially looking forward to viewing a clever and inspiring wall hanging, Food Frenemies, which is hand appliqued and quilted by Teresa over at Fabric Therapy.  Rumor has it that Teresa my be in attendance.  :-)

Quilt Sale & Quilt Show

Recently I participated in my guild's 'quilter-to-quilter' sale which was similar to a 'mom-to-mom' sale.  Members were able to rent a table for cheap and sell whatever was in their quilting stash. I had vintage quilts, fabric, books, etc. Shoppers paid a nominal fee to attend and buy bargains.  It was a good spring fundraiser for the guild.

For the third consecutive year, I drove south to Ohio to attend the Sauder Village Quilt Show.  It was wonderful.

My timing was good as I met Debbie Wick while she was standing at her award-winning wall hanging. Exquisite workmanship and a well-deserved ribbon. 300+ dime-size (or smaller) hand applique circles and oh those hexies!  Click here to view her blog.

At last year's show, I also got lucky and met up with Teresa Rawson from Fabric Therapy who unfortunately was unable to attend this year.  Teresa takes the best and most photos of the SV show.

If you are within driving distance and it fits you schedule, I highly recommend planning a trip next year.  Hundreds of quilts attractively displayed. Sauder Village Quilt Show is not commercialized; it's all about the individual quilts.

After being inspired by viewing awesome quilts and selling some of my stash, I am motivated to reorganize my sewing space.  My sewing machine is moving up from the basement to the first floor near a window.  I enjoy sewing more with natural light and it is easier on my eyes.  

Still working on other UFO's Dolly Dress-up Quilt and the Knitted Bunny which unfortunately did not make the Easter basket in a timely fashion  :-(  Their progress will now be posted going forward here on Sew Bliss.

Sauder Village Quilt Show 2014

This week I attended a very nice quilt show at Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio.  Quilts galore!

I've taken a few photos of just a few that caught my eye.  There were many more wonderful quilts, but I get overwhelmed and sidetracked by being surrounded by all the eye candy and apologize for not being able to feature them all.

A pleasant surprise was live beautiful background music from a baby grand piano.

One of the pianists played the theme song from Downton Abbey.  Wonderful!

Baltimore Rhapsody by Teresa at Fabric Therapy received a Blue Ribbon!  Now that I have seen it in person, I was amazed at the tiny applique details.  Beautiful!  The quilt drew quite a crowd throughout the day.
